Jonás Trueba (Madrid, 1981) has written and directed the following feature films: “Every Song Is About Me” (2010), nominated for a Goya award for Best New Director; “The Wishful Thinkers” (2013), which won awards and praise from critics and audiences after its international festival tour; “The Romantic Exiles” (2015), winner of the Special Jury Award at the Málaga festival; “The Reconquest” (2016), part of the Official Selection at the San Sebastian Film Festival; “The August Virgin” (2019), Special Jury Mention and FIPRESCI Award at Karlovy Vary IFF and one of the Top 10 Films of 2020 according to Cahiers du Cinéma, and “Who’s Stopping Us” (2020), awarded with the Feroz Zinemaldia Award at San Sebastián IFF and the Goya for best documentary. He is also the author of the medium-length film “Miniaturas” (2011) and co-wrote the feature films “Más pena que Gloria” (2000) and “Vete de mí” (2005), both directed by Víctor García León, and “El baile de la Victoria” (2009), directed by Fernando Trueba and nominated for a Goya award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He juggles his career in cinema with teaching, and since 2013 he has been a member of the Cine en Curso team, an educational project about cinema in schools and colleges. In June 2022 he released his last film: “You Have to Come and See It”.
